When I get older, I want to live there!!! How fun for the residents AND their visitors!! What do you do with the chicks after Easter?
I had 11 bantam eggs when 8 had hatched I thought it was all but the three I left in my incubator because of some other eggs hatching well a full 2 days later they pip and hatch out!! So from now on I give any eggs that don't hatch by day 22 a full 4 days more just st in case!!6 chicks this morning out of the 10 shipped eggs. Pretty happy about that! Would love to see another one or two more but I don't see anymore pips. My experience tells me that is probably it. I always leave the remaining eggs until day 22 but have yet to see a late hatcher. Any opinions or input on late hatchers?
I'm not ready either.I'm not ready yet. I have to get the pens finished and move chickens around. I want to put them all in my barn type pen. I usually use large clear totes but I'll need more space than that
No window? This is going to drive me insane not being able to see inside the Bator without opening the door. I hear chirping
Nice! My Cream Legbar eggs didn't fare well. I had a lot of dislodged air sacs. Out of 14 eggs, only 2 made it to lockdown, and they are questionable.we have a chick out! Cream leg bar pullet (I am pretty sure)
Sorry it didn't make it.The egg that busted when I moved it to the hatcher didn't make it.
But I have one zipping and I see 17 pips so far
So cool!!!!Hello From The Cottages!
We have 44 that made it to Lock Down. and we are a day behind most of you, I target Easter Sunday for the hatch, because that's when our residents have the most visitors, Grand children, Great Grand children, and on occasion Great Great Grand children. Our first contest is going on, and many await with great anticipation, staff as well as residents. Best Wishes.
Give it time. They rest before they start hatching.
Also it is early for hatching if eggs were set on time. It is normal for eggs to hatch several days before the normal hatch date and several days after during a hatch a long.Congrats to those with chicks hatching in your incubators!
For those that don't, don't worry! If your temps run cooler, your hatch will be late.
found out mine was set for 1.5 degrees higher than normal at 101 instead of 99.5 I corrected it at day 14 so I know I'll have one or two early birdsAlso it is early for hatching if eggs were set on time. Early hatching is from the incubator being too high. Late hatching is from the incubator being to cool. Both are not ideal but too cool is worse than too hot.
