It has been a pleasure @Happy Chooks! Thank you for all the hard work you put into the Hatch a Long, all the other helpers, the members who donated prizes and of course all the participants!

my broodies have a safe place in the main house so they are not really away from the flock, a mom will fight to protect her chicks.  I would put them with the flock during the day and keep an eye on them just to make sure everyone is safe and if no problems arise put her back in.

But what age?

But what age?
Put mom and babies in a safe place ground level since babies can't fly up high, they just need maybe an egg crate turned on it's side just some where mom can feel protected and have straw or shavings down, make sure it can't be tipped over. mine are in the flock when they hatch. I don't separate them. mom keeps everyone at bay. So I would say now would be good otherwise when mom is done raising them at about a month or two old then you have babies that you will have to keep separate until big enough to go to the main flock.

I take the chicks and bring them in. Keep them separate. That way you don't lose any to accident and they are not eating adult layer pellets which can make them quite sick if not kill them. Unless you just want them to fend for themselves and whatever happens, happens ... bring them in. They need chick starter crumbles until they are 6 months old and then you can put them back with the flock.

I have had so much fun this year! This was my first Easter HAL ever, I am loving my wall hanging from first place in the silhouette contest, all but 17 of the 49 chicks hatched from the HAL have been sold, and the others I'm either keeping, or growing out for somebody. Thank you, Happy Chooks, I hope that next year I will be able to donate some fun colored hatching eggs (I'm getting Black Copper Marans and Blue Ameraucanas soon) and help out with the HAL, if needed. Thanks for an awesome year!

I forgot to add that they do have their own feeding stations the big birds feeders are up high so the babies can't get the food and the baby food is put in an area only the babies can get to.

Can't thank you all enough for doing this for us again this year. :) :)

I would have liked to be a part of this but I already had the incubator full. At the start of the new year, Jan 1st, I put 34 eggs in the Hovabator. 100% hatch too. :) Maybe next year.
