The 8th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!!!!

Quote: Not all of mine like to be picked up. They're individuals, I respect that. As long as they're not nasty or crazy wild and causing panic among the rest, they're good. I have a couple from the last few EE chicks I bought in 2015 that don't me to touch them. Now that they're close to being 2, they've settled down and I can collect the eggs from under them without them jumping out of the nest boxes.

When I gather eggs I usually find one or two in the nest boxes I'll pet them it gives me a good idea as to wether they are tending to go broody on me or not
Those sneaky broodies! I keep putting mine across on to the other side, and more keep turning on...lol. I pet them too, and a lot of the time I lift them up or out of the nest. They hog all my nests.

If you don't have any frizzles than the chick cannot be frizzled. He definitely doesn't look frizzled to me. Sorry! I have no idea what his color is lol. You may have to wait until he's grown before you know.

Well that wasn't the best pic but here it is a little better and since birth it's feathers have been that way so I'm bumpuzzled !

yeah, I think some of it is just personality and some is me not spending enough time with them. I'm going to work on it though and also respect them and not force it cause I used to want them all to be cuddly and friendly but that's not fair if they're not into it. But I am going to at least start socializing them more so they're not scared and then they can decide on their own. Having the new coop and run should hopefully help because then I can put a chair or something in there and sit with them. Of course they can also get away from me easier but still haha

So I'm freaking out over here. Alabama has put a freeze on poultry movement. Nothing in, nothing out, and no sales. Two flocks are being tested in North Alabama because it's suspected that they have AI. One is a commercial farm and the other is a backyard flock. It's a ways from me yet, but the idea that my flock could get infected is terrifying. This could also mean that I won't get my eggs next week and those are my ehal eggs.
