Sometimes they just aren't strong enough. So sorry. My loud cheeper didn't make it. I know someone posted and said they associated that sound with being cold, but they chicks are under a "brooder hen" and it's toasty warm underneath. The other three are quiet, eating, drinking, tussling. I knew the SLRW was not good, but I just didn't see why. No pasty butt, no panting, no visual issues. I felt like she was a bit lethargic last night and gave her some Nutri Drench before bed. She was alive this morning, but must have passed away in the afternoon while I was at work.I know that's the way it is, but this is the first time I lost a chick that wasn't directly due to shipping. Just makes me wonder if I could have done something differently.![]()
Quote: I was wrong, I think there were actually 4 in there. Two white chickens, one brown chicken, and the duck.![]()
Yes, but you said how many hens are in there. Unless a duck is a hen, there are 3.![]()
Cuties!
Good job! Sorry about the shrink wrapped ones.Six out of eleven ducklings hatched. Of the last five one was a quitter and four were shrink wrapped. My own fault for opening the brooder to often to help Sticky, but six is not bad for my first duck hatch. They sure are a lot quieter than chicks. Friendly Little suckers.
