Today is the set day for Button Quail!
button quail: 16 days to hatch; set March 30th

After this, it's just waiting until they all hatch! ​

Shhhhhhh, I set more eggs today. But it's not my fault. The person I ordered from was supposed to send me a mixture of Cream Legbars, Sapphires and Ameraucana's for the Easter hatch, but she goofed and I only got Cream Legbars. Today I got the Sapphires and Ameraucana's.

They don't count for the HAL, but another 12 went into the bator.

Lots of blue layers! Good thing I have 2 bators! Fingers crossed for blue and splash Ameraucana babies!

Help! My dog scared my turkey hen up a pole and we have 25-35 mph wind with gusts up to 50. What do I do? Too dangerous to go up a ladder. The only two things I can think of are leave her and hope she's ok or try to scare her off with my pellet gun, but with this wind my aim means bubkiss

I'd put the dog away so the hen can't see it and try to lure her down with some favorite treats.

she is scared you might do more damage with a pellet gun than just scaring her down I would do like notafarm said do hopefully she comes down or gets blown down

Question? Today is day 5 for me, and I just candled. All but one look to be developing very well. That one has the aircell on the side of the egg. These aren't shipped eggs, so I wasn't expecting anything like that. Not much sign of development in this one either, so it may already be dead, but if not, is there anything I can do for it? Anyway to shift the aircell back to the top, or anything special I need to do at hatch?

I don't know how many to count them as. Are you comfortable in assisting those double yolkers to hatch? I have never heard of double yolkers hatching live chicks without assistance. I wish you the absolute best with them!!!

well we will see how many hatch, yep plan on pulling an all nighter to help them

Keep incubating as normal for now. If it develops then is should be hatched in a carton. Come back later and ask if so.
