Mine clicks too. I got the other half to put a spot of grease on the gears and it did help a tad. If the arms pull away I would check all screws are tight that hold the arms and the end bits.
When I stick mine on the cradle I’m going to have a wiggle of it.......

I’ll try that and see. Although last night it seemed to be holding in place.

Update on numbers:
we set yesterday 67 eggs.

Ok I’ve never seen the 24 egg limit, that helps thanks. So I’m going to take that as 24x60 grams of a average large egg. If you use that total weight in grams and divide the weight in grams of your bantam egg into that you should come up with a close number of eggs you can do. It might be half an egg there as well.
mine however are not large as USDA states and usually weighs more. I still fit 4 rows of six.

I don't think it is a weight limit but a size limit. I put the eggs big end up in my brinsea



The number I can get in there depends on the size of the eggs. I am supposed to get 20 in each tray but often get more. thi batch fit 44 eggs
