I want to hatch ducklings for the hatch a long this year but so far I’ve only found seven eggs. If I leave them locked up the eggs disappear. If I let them range the eggs turn up in the oddest places. Of course, all of this is moot if hubby doesn’t bring home an incubator tomorrow. My old styrofoam incubator saw it’s last hatch this past summer. DH is on nights this week so the only time he can stop by TSC is on the way home. I’m not allowed to go to TSC at this time because I can’t be trusted not to bring home chicks. I have to stick with the plan of breeding only my EEs this year.
I decided to do it because I hadn't done it in a long time and the two were so far apart that I wasn't sure which one was accurate. I also thought it would be good for people to see two with such a big difference in readings.always good even when we know might not recall everything the next time
New incubator is in the budget. Problem is with hubby’s hours this week. I hate when he works nights. It’s so hard to fall asleep without his snoring. He’ll have to pick up the incubator on his way to work or on his way home. Either way I won’t get it till tomorrow, so my hatch day may be a bit late.
It great that you can join us!Back about a week ago I was minding my own business and thought "I haven't been on BYC for awhile.", so I logged on. And what was the first thing I see? This thread...
That day I did a bunch of research and when I saw the 125 page thread on the Incuview incubator, I knew that was the one. It arrived a few days ago along with an Incutherm and I have been testing and adjusting ever since.
Late next week 6+ White Jersey Giant eggs and 6+ Silver Laced Cochin eggs should arrive. They will be started on Saturday the 10th with some of our own chickens eggs. Our rooster is a big Ancona, our hens are Anconas, Black & Buff Minoricas, White Leghorns and a Blue Cochin. We are going to use as many of the Blue Cochins eggs as we can and if room, some of the rest for a total of 27.
The second part of our chicken adventure soon begins! Wish us luck!
