I’m thinking of getting Malines eggs for this. Pros and cons anyone who knows this breed. I’ve had them before but I think I got a bad batch. All 4 died at about POL including rooster.

Yes thank you. I’ve read through several pages. Seems there just isn’t enough bloodlines to make it a strong bird.

I know I've read about them before. It was 'Our Roost' on the production eggs and meat thread. Big nice birds but it looks like he had the same prob, bad hatch and dying off older.
Last I heard he was going to try crossing some Cochin into them. Hasn't been on BYC in awhile so I don't know how that all worked out.

I plan on joining if I have a broody hen available at the time. Maybe put 8 eggs under her? I have an incubator, but it makes it easier to introduce new chickens into the flock if they start out there with mama.
