So I have an unintentional EHAL egg setting.

Along w/my oven, I have an Easter surprise!
I have several birds that I have giving up on trying to contain them.
They are known as the Free Birds.

They come and go as they please. Sleep in trees, roam fancy free. 2 of these particular birds have decided to create me an EASTER BASKET

They went broody around the 10th. And get this.. IN MY EGG COLLECTION BASKET!

I don't know how many eggs they are sitting on but they will not budge. A bomb could go off and they are determined to hold their ground.

I needed my basket last evening for my daily collection rounds. I gave it a tug. I gave it a shake. I gave it a plop. Ben even gave it a kiss!:hugs

So I took them for a stroll around the farm. Hoping they would fly the nest, but no can do..
They are glued.:barnie
The funny thing is.. I don't keep hay in my basket! I wonder who put it there?

Goofy Chickens! They made me an Easter Basket. The Easter Bunny can lighten his load this year!:bun

Hello, first time doing the Easter hatchalong. Set 12 eggs Fri eve-- hoping for hatch on 3/31 when fam is here. Speckled Sussex X Cochin, Wyandotte, California White, and Red Sex Link. Love the new ornamental breeds I got last summer but boy are the eggs ever small! Calif White & Red Sex Link lay nice sized eggs. Using still air cheapo incubator. Have hatched before and humidity was an issue. Enjoying all the great advice on this thread!
I hope you have a great time here!

They are very serious broodies!

Good news! Brinsea answered my question. She said the capacity was 1560 grams...... Now I just need to weigh all the eggs to find out if I am maxed out yet!

Great info! Thanks for sharing!!

Thank you. That’s on the Brinsea 20 correct?

Taking an average of mine I usually have 3 and 3/4 eggs too many. No wonder the turner clicks. Will weigh basket empty next time then weigh it full.

Mine clicks all the time too. Both of them. :(
I finally got scared on day 17 of current incubation yesterday, and took it off the turner. Too many great developers to risk it this late. 18 (well, I discovered a quitter last night...boohoo!) so 17 BCM's and 3 lavender orpingtons. Locking down tonight.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! ADORABLENESS OVERLOAD!! :love

I have worn out two motors on my octagon 40.

I suspect the motor and turner issue is one of the reasons Brinsea does not make the octagon any more

Well I was counting on it. But I may be getting some more. Guess I can wait.

That is so sweet! Cheered me up!

Love the simplicity of wafer thermostats. From the get go in use I'd noticed the metal relaxes tension after three or so days and you need to turn up the setting as the now relaxed metal is flexing easier. Sure enough, like clockwork, noticed this morning I was a degree low. All was well yesterday noon so it relaxed sometime in that 24 hour period. Still in process of bumping it up as I know if I go too far and the eggs finally catch up in temp it will send the temp far the other side. The Hovabator seems to be close to 1/6th full turn up, I'm at 1/4 for now but expect to bump down that wee bit to be spot on 99.5 again.
