The 9th Annual BYC Easter Hatchalong!

I think I have solved the mystery. I had a full NN hatch out a group of chicks last fall. She must have gotten hit by my Ameraucana rooster before a fox got him. I only have one Ameraucana hen and I know I collected all the eggs yesterday. There were two blue green eggs in the nest today, and I've seen at least one of the naked necks investigating nest in the few couple weeks. That means I've got a bow tie naked neck girl who lays blue eggs!

Too cool!

Love the color of this baby!

I only set five. You can join me in the 'less than half a dozen' club.

EDT: We have badges and almost no brooder upkeep!
:highfive: Sounds good to me.

In exciting news, I candled them today. They are BOTH fertile and growing! :wee 10/14 quail eggs are growing swimmingly as well. Unfortunately, I was not expecting this in the slightest, so now I have to figure out how to provide adequate humidity for both species. Yay.

It's snowing the largest flakes we've seen in years! Here is DH coming in After going out to shut the gate. That big flake on his shoulder had already melted some before I got my camera/ phone. The snow looks like streaks coming down. But they are big and round. Pretty cool looking. Had a nice thunder storm earlier. Worried a bit about losing power, but thank goodness we didn't.
