Hey all!!

Idk why my darned phone isn't giving me notifications of new posts on this thread.

We set coturnix quail yesterday but I forgot to count them. I'll do that when I'm home for lunch.

Being within the two day leeway they should count right?

I had planned to set on the 13th but they naturally stopped laying when I decided to collect eggs. Thankfully they began to lay again in the last couple days. I'm not sure if they will be fertile or not since my Pharoah male doesn't like the A&Ms much.

Anyone else with quail had this problem? Unfortunately last fall I lost all but three of my Pharoahs to a raccoon so that's what I'm hoping for.

Candled my 9 quail eggs that had a rough transport and it looks like only 3 or 4 have any action happening inside.

Hoping the ones that are fertile and growing hatch normally without any issues.

Talking about Blood rings, look at what I just found in one of my green eggs. Goes all the way around.

I have not got the other chicks yet, I will today. My brooder is ready.

Sorry I didn’t respond earlier. BYC for some reason didn’t like my email address and shut me down. Sounds like you have it under control. Has the other egg shown activity?

Here is a picture of my chick that hatched. The chick is still wet but drying. So can I leave him/her until this evening? ( The other egg has not pipped yet )

They can easily live 24 hours on the egg yolk in their bellies after hatching.

Okay I counted today at lunch but didn't have enough time to post it.

35 eggs is the grand total.

Again I don't expect most of them to be fertile. I tried to set eggs no more than three days old but DH2B seemed to have mistakenly put some older eggs in my hatching eggs. I guess it's a wait and see game.
