The 9th Annual BYC Easter Hatchalong!

What a day my butt is killing me.About 15 minutes after I woke up this morning power went out.I called Electric co. They said power would be down about 4 hours. After about 45 minutes incubator temp was down to 80° .I tried putting blankets over incubator to hold in heat but it was useless. Finally after about hour and 15 minutes I decided it was going to take drastic measures to save my little chicks. The only thing i could think of was I needed to sit on those eggs.So I placed all 18 eggs on a piece of that foam egg shell material that is used on matresses then took another piece of same egg shell foam and put it on top of eggs. Now that i had eggs sandwiched between foam it was time for me to start brooding.I spent next 2 1/2 hours sitting on chicken eggs reading Urban Chicken magazine.I must say, I have gained a lot of respect for brooding hens. The power is back on and i candled a few of eggs they are doing just fine.I wish i could say the same for my hemorrhoids.
Too funny..sort of .. ey?? :clap

That's what I'm doing but was about 4 days in before switching them to upright...

Saddle eggs do hatch! I've found great success in hatching them in egg cartons at an upright with the saddle facing most upward. Picture it as being like your face turning upwards towards the sun.
