The 9th Annual BYC Easter Hatchalong!

Mine started to hatch this morning. I have 4 out so far. They're not due till tomorrow. But I'm ready for them so they may as well arrive. I'll get pics when they done and dried and in their brooder.
Pictures Please!

I wonder if I might ask a couple questions since so many hatchers are huddled together. I am doing my first incubation. I am on day 2 but googling for info. I read that ...

1 If the temp is on the low side in incubator you will have a better hatch rate for Pullets, if it is on the high side you have a better hatch rate for Cockerels.

2. I read that it is not uncommon for Bantams to hatch a little earlier than expected. My Rooster is a Bantam Cochin and the Hens are Not. would they (I mean other than Mutts) be expected to be Bantam or LF?

Thank you for any assistance. If I can get this right this time I may have to join the fun next year! Good Hatches to all!

The temperature thing has been well researched due to potential application in the commercial egg laying business but no experiments have found it to be true.

If your hens are the large ones then I'd plan for them to hatch at 21 days as they will be larger eggs. Hope you get some cute chickens. I had one that was a bantam cochin (mother) crossed with a silver leghorn (father) and he had the cute short, fluffy legs, and tubby shape of the cochin but he had a longer neck and a huge comb. We had to rehome him as we are in suburbia.
