The adventures of Barbara (BR)

Sorry for your loss.
Hope the surviving cgickies recover from the shock and injuries.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and support. The two little boys that I thought were injured seem to be okay physically but act a bit traumatized. We have not yet been contacted by the neighbor (not holding my breath either) but will have some sort of showdown soon.

Still only have one lavender baby hatched, but the pips are starting!

I am so sorry!!! wonder if maybe electric fencing might be an idea- hey - tell the dogs owner they need to pay for electric fencing! when we first got chickens out dog killed a cockeral- i am always afraid he will get loose again

The neighbor has a truck for sale sitting out by the road. I am tempted to take the bag of dead chickens and stuff it under the seat of the truck for a few days . . . weeks . . . or until he "Mans Up". Wouldn't actually do it, but it is fun to think about. . . .

I like that idea, especially if you add on the loss income of the lost off spring. Who knows? We have had only one visit from neighbors dogs, and he came and got them, left the permission to shoot them if they get out again and bother the birds. Fine thing, except we don't own a gun. I know, and we live out in the country. Guns are so expensive, and I don't feel safe controlling one with the arthritis in my hands. Not sure what we will do.

Again, sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry, dear Mrschickendad, I know each of your babies mean a lot to you. Children and chickens bounce back, though, so with Barbara and Leroy in the lead, all will be right with the world again soon. Kiss the tiny babies for me. Lavender? Lovely!

I have been so caught up with my new incubator and reading about hatching chickens that I missed this.

I am so sorry you and the chickens had to go through the dog attack!! We went through a racoon attack last week....thus, the incubator. But a racoon is different....they are supposed to be out looking for food. A bird dog on the loose is nothing but trouble.

I hope your neighbor 'man's up'!!!!
