The adventures of Barbara (BR)

Yep, found the pic on google, but have seen many kiwis - - - if you're ever in the Auckland area, take a boat to Tiritiri Matangi at night. Take a torch, and put a red lense over it. There are kiwis, and tuatara!!! Plus it's also nice to watch the dolphins fishing as the sun goes down...And don't eat ANYTHING on the beach, cause theres a really cheeky takahe who will rob you of said food!!

Banty Party!

The warm spell seemed to be over, but the sunshine was inviting. Barbara spent the day doing Barbara things. She found a wormy apple and made a snack of that. She found Leroy and shared a Tender Moment. She arranged her feathers so they lined up nicely (Leroy sometimes was not careful to not mess up her feathers). She walked the lonesome walk to the coop and produced an egg. It wasn’t blue, but it made the Food People happy, so Barbara was content. After all, she was doing the hard part! She bet THEY couldn't lay an egg!

The little banties were getting WAY too brave. They waddled out to the spruce tree BY THE ROAD and lounged around under it taking baths. It looked like a Christmas tree with lots of white packages underneath. The Cleaning Lady noticed their coop was getting a bit ripe, so she grabbed the pitchfork and cleaned the coop out. The Cleaning Man brought out a fresh bale of straw on a little wagon and set it by the coop.

When the banties saw the straw, they came running, looking for all the world like little fat ladies running in snowshoes. The Cleaning Lady had lots of help: the banties picked and scratched at the broken bale until they had made a complete mess of it. One of the little white roosters sat on top of the bale and rode it down when it avalanched off the wagon. They had such a good time the Cleaning Lady didn’t have the heart to stop them. Besides, she was getting tired and wanted to sit on the coop steps and watch chicken TV.

I might have to rate it MA for "mature audiences"!

It's fun to watch! I saw some rabbits do it once, I even got pictures!
