The adventures of Barbara (BR)

Cooped Up

Oh Brother! Barbara was sick and tired of those Ameraucana sisters. It was so cold and windy outside that everyone stayed in the coop and Barbara was definitely feeling “cooped up. The Ameraucana sisters were on strike until they got more heat and light, and most everyone else followed their lead. And they tittered and squawked about Barbara’s Big Butt right in front of her!

The temperature was actually above freezing today, so the Food Man let the flock out to free range. Half of the big girls went with Walter under the spruce tree. The other half went with Silver, Bob and Leroy to the tree by the house. Silver decided it was time for trick or treating, so he came to the door on the deck and hollered. The Food Lady produced grapes, but Silver had cold feet and couldn’t decide which one to stand on and eat grapes. His greed finally got the best of him and he put both feet down and chucked down grapes as fast as she would give him some. Leroy and Barbara stayed under the tree, but ventured out when it began raining grapes. It was a free-for-all as chickens darted out from under the trees for the manna from heaven.

Leroy and Barbara took care of each other. Several of the boys made eyes at Barbara and tried to get romantic with her, but Leroy stepped in and defended his woman chicken’s honor. Barbara, in turn, let Leroy snuggle at night, as well as be romantic, so it worked out. Barbara’s Big Butt was also warm. Besides, she didn’t like her men chicken with beards, so the Ameraucana boys weren’t all that grand in her eyes.

They're all just jealous of Barbara's fluffy butt, cause they know men like their women soft.

How's little Doody the house chicken btw?

That's what I say—give 'em shade in the summertime and warmth in the wintertime!

Poor Doody. I think he is going to have to go to the Big Chicken Coop in the Sky. He is unchanged. I was trying to give him a chance in case it isn't Marek's, but with no change and lots of vitamins, treats, etc. I am probably not doing him any favors by keeping him going. Chickendad has to get on board with it and he hates it as bad as I do.
