The adventures of Barbara (BR)

Chicken Run

Mrs. Chickendad is thinking of changing Hot Shot’s name to “David”, as in “David and Goliath”. Hot Shot was out busily pestering the other Little Boys who were penned up, when he decided to take on Goliath, . . . er . . . Walter. Walter’s head comes well above Mrs. Chickendad’s knee and Hot Shot is all of a pound and a half. It was not a fair fight. Walter, now that he is the Main Man Chicken, chased little Hot Shot all the way back behind the barn. Hot Shot spent the rest of the afternoon patrolling the compost pile back there and keeping an eye out for Walter.

It was threatening rain, so Chickendad decided to move the bantam rock couple from Daycare back to the Honeymoon Hotel. Walter decided to “help”. The Little Boy slipped through the fence and ran around the yard with Big Walter in hot pursuit. Walter was gaining on him enough to grab a couple mouthfuls of his beautiful rooster tail before Mrs. Chickendad got hold of Walter and Chickendad saved little Rocky. For a turkey sized bird, Walter can really move. Unfortunately, the Chickendads cannot.

Thank You! But some of the funniest things that happened have to do with the "romance" department. It would have to be an X-rated children's book! It's been windy here the past few days, and Leroy keeps getting "blown off".

That is quite a visual picture, lol.

Do I see that your little one has "speckled" feathers like Barbara? I had been thinking I just HAD to get a BR, and lo and behold, two babies I have in a brooder have feathers like that. I read on the internet, that the little ones have black bodies with white areas, but the pictures the site showed, looked more like bigger spots, and not little white dots at the end of the feathers, so I'm a bit confused. I'm hoping these are little BR's. I think they are about a month old.
I'll name one Barbara for sure. Will be kinda funny in the family, since my ex's wife's name is Barbara. We are very friendly though, so she won't mind!

The Children Leave the Nest

Barbara and Leroy’s Love Child has gone off on his own adventure. He is not in Michigan anymore. He is in Kansas . . . in jail. Last night he flew out on the Big Chicken in the Sky and got to Kansas this morning where he is going to live with another BYC member, Pam. He is promised lots of treats and girlfriends after he gets out of jail, although at only 3 months old all he does is sing and dance for the girls. Perhaps he will be as talented at romance as his Daddy, Leroy.

Little Dusty, the frizzle splash cochin, has gone to live with another BYC member, Cathy. The Chickendads hope she has better luck there, after being widowed by Doody and Chuckie. Cathy also took one of the Silly Ameraucana Sisters home with her, cutting down considerably on Barbara’s annoyance factor. Now there is only one Ameraucana to call her “Barbara Big Butt”.
