eweaber- I'm Thinking that your darker one maybe your male, im no expert but the ones i have had and seen, the ganders tend to be a little darker and have higher pitches. How old are they? There very pretty!
I'm about as new as you can get about geese, but I have done my research on them and no where have I found that Africans get up to 50lbs.. /img/smilies/hmm.png I'm pretty sure that the chinese don't have a dewlap, and the stand up straighter? The super african might get a little heavier, but not as much as 50lbs.
Chinese geese also have a long, very slender neck and they make a lot more noise. Another thing about them is that Chinese geese are located in the Light Class (which means that the gander can weigh approximately between 5.5 and 14 pounds. However, Africans are in the heavy class, which means that the gander usually weighs about 22 pounds or more. This information can be found in Storey's Illustrated Guide to Poultry Breeds by Carol Ekarius.
