eweaber- I'm Thinking that your darker one maybe your male, im no expert but the ones i have had and seen, the ganders tend to be a little darker and have higher pitches. How old are they? There very pretty!

Thanks for the thread 8geese, the dilute gander is stunning! And the thread itself was very interesting, didn't understand half of it but what i did was pretty neat lol

I'm not sure how old they are. I bought them at an action. I am hoping they are a pair.

Here are a pair of juveniles I hatched this year (boy on left/girl on right) from white geese/brown ganders. Neither got much in the way of markings.

Now i have hope that i have some girls. I was worried that i had all ganders since i was told it was a sex link cross and all i got was pieds lol regardless of that i have always thought that i had 3 girls and 3 boys.

You are right abo
I'm about as new as you can get about geese, but I have done my research on them and no where have I found that Africans get up to 50lbs.. /img/smilies/hmm.png  I'm pretty sure that the chinese don't have a dewlap, and the stand up straighter? The super african might get a little heavier, but not as much as 50lbs.

You are right about the Chinese not having a dewlap and all:) Chinese geese also have a long, very slender neck and they make a lot more noise. Another thing about them is that Chinese geese are located in the Light Class (which means that the gander can weigh approximately between 5.5 and 14 pounds. However, Africans are in the heavy class, which means that the gander usually weighs about 22 pounds or more. This information can be found in Storey's Illustrated Guide to Poultry Breeds by Carol Ekarius.

Here are my other goslings with the geese that hatched them took these with my phone ill try for better ones later
