The African and Chinese goose thread!!

I have a small river channel that flows as the boundary to my back pasture, but I really want my geese to stay OUT of it.
Lots of turtles, spotted gar, likely alligator gar, and, yes, actual alligators live in there. We had a hatch last year right behind the house and saw the little croakers. And have seen mom and pop and few times while walking along further towards the swamp.

Otherwise it would be perfect. It has a lock just above us, and runs through a dense swamp about a mile below us that would prevent them from going anywhere very easily on it. It has tons of vegetation in it. It is really beautiful, in and 'old Florida' sort of way, and deep. But, as wild as FL waterways are... I'll stick to filling/refilling their pools daily.
Oh wow!

Alligators is definitely a good reason to keep your geese out!

I'm personally used to them... if they aren't too big I bop them with my paddle to tell them to go away when out in my kayak. And I think the little croakers are adorable.
I just don't want my geese meeting them...

We use to canoe down in Ocala forest and saw many Alligators they are not aggressive but they would eat one of our birds in a split second if they got the chance or one of our dogs or cats doesn't matter to them..

I don't swim in the little river channel that borders our property, too much vegetation and it drops off deep right from the bank. But I do swim in the lakes down here. And yes, there are alligators in the lakes. But they also have nice white sand beaches. Alligators mostly keep to themselves, bites are very rare... and usually involve people doing something stupid and harassing to cause it to occur. It's really not something most people here worry about. Kind of like shark bites when over at the ocean. We know they are there, just don't concern ourselves about it too much. Getting bitten is so unlikely, driving to the beach is WAY more dangerous.

I guess I have seen to many alligator documentaries. I was like "why is driving to the beach so dangerous?" then I finally got it!
