Yeah! I don't see many pictures of Buff Africans. Do you know if there are any Buff Chinese, or any other colors of swan geese than brown, buff and white?

The weather was terrible so they don't look very pretty so here are some of my Africans ;) most are less then a year old.

Female infront is 3 the other brown gander is less then a year old and in the back are my breeding buff African pair.

His mother is a buff African while his father is a brown African. (he has the buff gene therefore he can produce buff female goslings).

400

Brothers (both have same buff mother and different fathers).

Sloppy Joe suffering from wet feather which will weer away once the non-rain stops. Which it did finally!

400

Nearly a year old male not using him for breeding as he's too young.

She's less then a year old and I wouldn't use her for breeding this year as she is too young.

These are all less then a year old except Sloppy Joe who is 2 this year and photobombing!

Buff Chinese geese don't exist (yet) I once tired using buff African and white Chinese and it worked but unfortunately I stopped but I'm trying to create it again!

Oh wow thank you! I didn't know you had so many! I've never had wet feather, is it a condition or were his feathers just wet for a long time? Why do some of them have orangish knobs? How old is the oldest pair in the last picture? That buff chinese is beautiful!

I'm starting my African breeding program in Ireland to bring the African breed back to life!
This breed is rare here so I would hate to see it die out.
Wet feather is when your geese feathers aren't water proof anymore due to either them not washing themselves in clean water or due to too much rain that lasts for days non-stop.
In Ireland it rains a lot in the winter :/
Pure brown african geese should never have any orange on their bills if they do have orange on their bills they are a crossbreed or a Chinese.Unless it's frostbite which causes the knob to get orange spots but eventually the spots will get black again.
On the other hand with buff Africans the older the geese get the more orange the beak and knob get.
Also buff African breeders in warmer countries get pure buff African goslings forming orange beaks and knobs at a young age (reason I don't know).

I don't really know how old the oldest pair are but I got them as a pair when they were 8 years old and I have them for 7 years this year so 15 years old but the male was taken by a fox last year :(
Last year I was gone all summer and family took care of the geese but the fox took half of my African flock and they didn't notice until they saw the fox chasing the geese in the field.
And the geese stayed in the yard for a whole month at one stage
