The American Cemani Breeders Club...open forum

For the record, the statement above is completely false. Greenfire Farms never lost its original imported breeding group of Cemanis to a raccoon attack. The original imports are alive and well and breeding today on our farm. And, we have never introduced Cemani into our breeding flocks from any other US breeder.
Good to know.... I am glad that I am in error...
Thanks for the update...

Depressing how people spread untrue gossip, though in this case it seemed they would have been happy for it to be true

.

Good job GFF saw this and put the record straight.
Yes... I agree...
Again, I am glad that I am incorrect...

I am never happy that any line here in the states would or could have been endangered...

I am glad to have been corrected.
I was unsure of the stories validity.
I should not have repeated what I was told.
You have my Apologies for this...
It is Always good to hear the FACTS from the source.... THANKS GFF

It can happen to any of us...seems there is always something shady going on with Cemani anymore, seems the best bet is to double and triple check your facts first and make sure they are facts. i think everyone is guilty of spreading rumors and gossip sometimes unknowingly at some point in their life be it online or in person.

Wow, I've read most of this thread and man do I have a lot of questions. The first and most importantly is, is Green Farms Cemani pure? I read on there website that they can't guarantee that all there chick's will be all black like it should be can someone explain that to me please. I would love to get some of these but I don't want to get burned.

Yes, they are pure, but just like with other breeds the color of each individual bird cannot be perfect all the time, so you need to keep your best birds and breed them together to get the best color, but even then that does not mean all offspring will be perfect. It's like when you are breeding birds for showing, even if you breed two champions together it doesn't mean that their offspring will all be champions too, some will be lesser quality.

Thank you for your quick reply, so these birds have a small percentage that won't be all black? Are we talking just different colors spots on the birds or all another color and what colors are we talking white or other colors?

Mostly it's not being perfectly black, like not all black toenails, mouth and tongue not being black, red leakage in the comb and wattles, things like that. Possibly also some slight feather color leakage, as is some feathers that aren't black showing up. Nothing so drastic as a completely different colored bird. At least not from GFF. Some people at this stage are trying to cash in on their high price and will sell hybrids as pure, or just sell any old black colored chick as Ayam Cemani if they can get away with it. GFF is reputable and isn't going to do that :)
