The American Paint Silkie

Pics

Tonight and tomorrow is hatch day for my paint silkie eggs. I know I can get paint, white or black. Here's the question are paint babies hatched with spots or they come in over the next few weeks?

Thanks

HOW EXCITING!! CONGRATS! I haven't had any eggs yet, so I can't help with your questions, but I'd love to see pics when they hatch!

In my paints I can see black spots at hatch, I have never had one develop black spots later on. My paint showgirls hatch out with white/pink skin which darkens with age, becoming completely black by 3 weeks.

My paint babies have hatched with spots and no spots. The no spot babies, get spots within the few week to week and a half. So, it does happen. I actually have some that were born with little to no spotting and have the best spots of all of them. They just seem to get more and more spots the older they get.

Same here. I've also have them go from just a spot or two to full out patches of black after losing the chick down. So selling white solids too early might be a mistake.

thanks for the information everyone - much appreciated!!!!

I SEE SPOTS!!!!

hopefully I will have a few more spots this afternoon - my other two paints hatched black as of now

Congratulations everyone on your breeding programs, WOW lots of nice Paints showing up.
I hatched my first this morning.
Stole 12 eggs from the pen and hatched 6 so far, just this one Paint so far. It hatched with nice dark skin and several spots scattered all over, can't wait till it dries and I see it better.
