On August 11th I got a Ancona chick from our local feed store as I thought it'd be nice to add a new different bird to the flock. She was bought along with 2 blue wyandottes and they're all 6 wks old now. They've been outside for 3 wks and the older birds have already gotten use to them. Skittles(our Ancona) seems to have become very leader-like in her little group and really likes me whenever I go out to see them.

I've read so much on this breed online but what can you Ancona owners tell me about them?
What do you like about them?
What do you dislike about them?
How many eggs have you collected from them each week?
Are they noisy? If so, how loud do they get?
Are they friendly to the others in their flock?
Are they mean?
Do they go broody?

I am new to the breed and have 3 Ancona mixes that are approximately 2 weeks old. So far, they seem very alert and seem to have a lot of energy. I handle them several times a day, so I haven't noticed any aloof behavior. In fact, the second I remove the top from their brooder they fly out and use me as a jungle gym.

My friend owns the dad, who is a full Ancona. He likes to crow and is aloof, but seems to be a good protector of his girls. He's kicked a couple times. His personality is quirky and funny.

No one has any Ancona hardly. Almost impossible to find stateside. Lol. Add bantam in the mix and good luck. I've been searching to no avail. Here are my two Ancona bantams that my father in law picked up at a trade day. Can't find the person who sold them to him. Wish I could!
