The "Ask Anything" to Nicalandia Thread

From the pictures she shows mottling or spangling. All of the white being covered is actually black feathers so she appears to have melanized head so probably melanotic.

It's quite difficult to guess on mongrels
Well you’ve told me more than I knew, so I appreciate it. Thank you, I was quite confused as to why her head was white or melanized.
Do you have chick pictures?
Not many good ones of her downy stage. She started off white with a tinted face though, and feathered out the reddish/orange slowly.

My Speckled Sussex hen hatched 11 of her own chicks, the rooster is a Cuckoo Orpington x Light Sussex. Two of the chicks look like Buff Sussex, is this to be expected? I wasn't really expecting any to be buff coloured.
I hope its ok me asking a question, and thanks a lot for any help!

Yes, the sire is E/eWh so half of his progeny will be eWh and since speckled sussex are wildtype e+, the chicks will be eWh/e+ very much wheaten looking(like buff sussex)

Ok, I'm not very good at genetics, but I think I'm getting the idea.
Here is a photo of them when they were a bit younger.

(Some of them are out of the photo)
I'm thinking the white one must have got its colour from the Light Sussex that is it grandfather?
One last question, if I breed the buff looking ones together, would they breed true buff?
Thank you so much for helping!
