Solanacae
Crowing
Good to know - so it would have to be the EE/Ameraucana/whatever for the mother? Since you need two copies to be fully bearded? She's fully bearded.

Thank you! I love them, even if their colors aren't standard. Just means I don't need Legbands for them yetGood to know - so it would have to be the EE/Ameraucana/whatever for the mother? Since you need two copies to be fully bearded?

I do love specific color patterns and appreciate the care and dedication that breeders put in to getting really flawless birds. I also think that birds with a mishmash of colors/patterns are pretty too - each one being so unique. I have some birds that I wanted a specific color for, and others that I didn’t want a feather color but a different quality instead. Case in point would be the blues layers I got hatching eggs for. Hopefully this lil’ gal will lay blue, even if it’s a light shade.Thank you! I love them, even if their colors aren't standard. Just means I don't need Legbands for them yet
Because a Legbar would be barred?Pretty much, also the coloration.
Legbars are barred yes, but the hen will also produce Sexlinked chicks with half beards. Also they're of Duckwing coloration not partridge.I do love specific color patterns and appreciate the care and dedication that breeders put in to getting really flawless birds. I would have loved to get specifically cuckoo or lavender, especially bantam ones, but I couldn't find any chicks for sale in those colors, only eggs, and most from EBay, so I figured I would get mixed colors for now and in a few years try againI do love specific color patterns and appreciate the care and dedication that breeders put in to getting really flawless birds. She is not Wildtype.Hi @nicalandia I have another question.
I think this hen is heterozygous for dominant white with the wildtype base, but should her head be white?
what is she then? She is not Wildtype.
Do you have chick pictures?Hi @nicalandia I have another question.
I think this hen is heterozygous for dominant white with the wildtype base, but should her head be white? I know dominant white dilutes black in heterozygous form, but if so should she have had a more yellowish orange colored head? She’s mixed breed, her mother was either a white leghorn or a california white and father looked like a black-breasted red colored male, so i don’t know what other genes she may have.View attachment 3354474
