Thinking of a new hunt. One moment.

Let's see a picture of someone holding a wild bird!
Can be a wild quail, duck, pigeon, songbird, bird of prey, swan, turkey, goose etc.
Must specify species/breed.
A domesticated animal from a once wild breed like Junglefowl or Mallards does not count.

I'm empty handed
Never held a wild bird before. Did have an encounter with a wild mother turkey and her babies though. When I was free ranging the chickens, Those turkeys came up and started establishing themselves in the pecking order! The mother turkey clearly didn't trust me, but she wasn't as scared of me as I thought she should have been. She just stared at me and hung out with the ladies. hmm....

All of today's domestic poultry and waterfowl hail from wild Aves. So, therefore, aves should qualify

Okay. Female Downy Woodpecker (Picoides pubescens). She flew into one of our second-story windows a couple Novembers ago, then fell all the way to the ground. I was so scared for her! I ran out to make sure she was okay, and she was just laying there, but still alive. So, I warmed her in my hands and let her recover. A few minutes later, she grabbed my fingers and pulled herself upright like she was on the trunk of a tree. She just stayed like that for the longest time, like she was regaining her bearings, and then finally, she flew away. It was a pretty cool experience.

As for the next hunt, how about a rooster in a nest? Have we done that one yet?
