Naine de Tournaisis. A beautiful breed from Belgium that was almost extinct. The gene pool was so thin that they had to cross it with other similar breeds like an old English game (OEG). An number of breeders in Belgium and the Netherlands are working towards a more homogenous look by selection to get the breed back, on a larger scale.

From the 12 ‘fertilized’ eggs I bought, I got a beautiful rooster, a beautiful looking but a bit too heavy and too dark hen that lays badly and a too light hen with a too large comb (see previous photo) that lays super well and is quit smart. So my 2 chickens have characteristics that do not completely match the breed.

You probably can’t buy them in the US.
