Lightning's eyebrows raised slightly. "Just let me get some rest, darling."

"Of course." She nodded, "Father has had a special place prepared for you by the river."

Lightning nodded, hastily padding over to the river. She could feel the gazes of the other horses burning through her fur.

Wind and the council he had set up were talking a little ways away from Lightning, discussing what to do about the foal, in a quiet murmur. Wind looked up at Lightning and smiled gently at her.

Lightning sighed, walking toward them almost hastily.

"What's wrong, darling?" Wind asked as he paused the meeting.

As if the foal could hear them, he shifted slightly, moving inside Lightning.
