The BANTAM ORPINGTON Thread

A few pics of our bantam Chocolate Orpington flock, they're looking a bit messy after the recent rain we had, but I figured it was time to show them off.

The cockerel, who wouldn't pose at all, is split to Chocolate.

Help! I only have this one BBS bantam and I have no idea if its a pullet or a cockerel!! It was hatched under my boody and raised by her until 6 weeks, and didnt feather up really until then so I feel it might be slower developing than my other chicks of the same age too as they were raised inside under a lamp. Now nearly 8 weeks... But anyway...what do you experienced folk think?

Definitely a pullet. They tend to be fairly easy to sex.

So glad there is a thread here for the bantams! I just spent a couple of hours finishing up winterizing my bantam Orpington run. I'd never turn my back on my Australorp rooster but my bantam Orpington is a sweetheart. I just tested fertility on some of the bantam eggs that are too small to incubate, and the fertility was very good, so into the incubator the good candidates go. Breaking in the new incubator, too. Chocolate cockerel over chocolate and mauve splash pullets.

Hi! Just wanted to chime in and follow the thread, we've really enjoyed these little guys. We currently have chocolate & chocolate cuckoo, and now I'm on the lookout for more colors...these guys make chicken math easy! :)
