Well I have not been having very good luck with my Bantam Orp eggs. It seems like the girls feel I need more boys.

They are so tiny, they get bowled over by the standard sized chicks. Poor little guys.

They are just so cute and tiny!

Tonya, sorry to hear that. Are you having fertility issues or something else??

I recently set up an all black pen should have eggs from that group soon. Also waiting on my two coming 8 month old pullets to start laying in my blue/splash pen.

My buffs are still laying pretty well, bless their heart in this heat.

No fertility has been good. I did take out one of the roosters (the black whose body type was not as good as the splash) so now it is just a trio in the pen. I have 8 eggs in the incubator right now. I guess I should candle them and see what how they are growing.

The heat here has slowed them down.

Doesn't help that I have been sharing the eggs on the swaps. I really need to quit that and start hatching out more than one or two here and there. I have told myself that there are only a couple of breeds now that I will swap for. Let's hope I can keep my hands off the keyboard.

I just seem to be hatching a lot of boys.

OH my, are you telling me that they take as long as the big Orps to start laying?

Your eggs are on my list....some time this fall, I hope to contact you and see if I can get some. I decided I had better write a plan of what I want and who has em and all that jazz to keep my head on straight.

Those are nice looking birds. I find alot of the bantams (true bantams aside) look to similar.

My blue pullet is a big "husky" girl for a bantam so that may have something to do with her no laying yet. (not knocking it though cause her conformation is great

) They are both as red as can be but not the first egg from either.

Mine do not seem to like the heat either. Heck, what am I talking about, I don't like this heat we have been having. We are currently at 102. UGH!!!
