We will be bringing several different colors in both large Fowl and Bantam.

To show or for the sale aisle?

We will have some hatching eggs that will be raffled on the American Orpington Poultry Fanciers table! If no eggs, we will have various members with gift certificates towards their hatching eggs. WE will also have hatching eggs from some of the top large fowl breeders.

The birds we bring will be for the show or the AOPF raffle table.

Here is a photo of my blue bantam orpington roo! Love these little guys. I have a lot of questions about breeding these birds, as this is my first year doing so. If there is anyone out there with a lot of experience would love to chat. Also, does anyone know a breeder that has lavender in the bantam orp?

If you ask around in the UOC you will probably be able to get some. Good ones

Thanks. I'm not worried about getting any, as I have my own. I was just wondering if anyone on this thread is planning on showing theirs.

I would suggest using caution and buying in person with Orpington Bantams. They tend to get a little on the large size.

STANDARD WEIGHTS
Cock...............38 oz. Hen............34 oz.
Cockerel.........34 oz. Pullet.........30 oz.

We acquired a black Orp male at Shawnee for one of our 4H members. The breeder was well known. Yet, the bird weighed well over Standard. Think "miniature Orpington". In the showroom they never weigh a bird. But in the breeding pen we should be using a scale and breeding to the Standard.

We have been very careful in our breeding pens to keep the weight as close to the SOP as possible.

There is one breeder I would purchase Orpington Bantams from sight unseen: Autry Friendship Farms We have competed against the Autry's and they are tough to beat. Dick Hortsman is another one tough to beat. His wife is secretary of the American Poultry Assocoation and his contact info is at the APA sight.
