I’ve been reading through the thread and thought I’d share big BC news at our house. ZsaZsa laid her first egg!

The first crows I heard from my BCs had me believing they were sick. I ran over to see which one was about to die and it was one of my BC roosters perfecting his crow.OMGeeze ...
My oldest, Joey, does his normal crowing this morning...and then I hear what sounds like a little girl screaming!
So I jumped up and checked the chicken cams...nothing. Everything looks normal.
I listen to see where it is coming from cause I hear the screams after every crow of Joey's...
My DH had gone upstairs to sleep cuz he couldn't breathe from the cats having been in our bed so he's all stopped up n gonna have to go back to sleeping upstairs.
I hollered to see if it was him...nothing.
I keep listening and following the "little girl screams"...not coming from upstairs...not coming from outside...the garage...Coco!
Coco is belting out what he thinks is his best crow...over and over and over!
OMGeeze atleast he let yall break the news to me before he belted it out!
Congratulations!!! The stink eye she is giving you there is so cute!!! She's beautiful!I’ve been reading through the thread and thought I’d share big BC news at our house. ZsaZsa laid her first egg!

Yeah when I went out into garage to confirm it was coming from the brooder with just the 2 cochins....they both looked at me like what!?The first crows I heard from my BCs had me believing they were sick. I know what you mean. I sure wish that neutering was an option. It’s so invasive though.Congratulations!!! The stink eye she is giving you there is so cute!!! She's beautiful!

I shut the door and he screams like a girl again.
I mean I had jumped up this morning in a panic thinking there was a little girl being attacked in my backyard! Sounded just like a little girls blood curdling screams!
Man I'm in so much trouble with all these boys!!!
I'm so tired of raising em to get attached, cause they are all pets for me, and then learn they are another boy!
I hear ya...one of my d'uccles bit my lip yesterday! Then turned and bit my hand!I know what you mean. I sure wish that neutering was an option. It’s so invasive though.
I once had a rooster whose first crow sounded exactly like Tarzan’s call. He kept it that was too.
First cries are adorable…until they give you a heart attack because you think a little girl is being attacked!!
One of my boys dances straight to me like I’m his hen. It’s hard not to get attached to them when they’re so stinking cute!
And yes, ZsaZsa was very mad at me! It’s strange, the girls are definitely going through puberty, because they’re developing terrible attitudes. One actually came at me the other day to attack my leg. I scooped her up and carried her around the farm for awhile so she knew I wasn’t going to deal with that. And yesterday I tried to show ZeaZsa the best box because she laid her egg on the floor and she was literally biting me. Not pecking, biting and holding on. So I carried her around for awhile.
I think I need to specs some extra time with them right now to ensure they stay sweet.
Oh I'm always talking to em....lolWere you smiling or talking to her or anything? Most of my girls (of all breeds, not just the Cochins) will do anything to peck at my teeth and would frequently miss and grab my lip instead. My teeth definitely aren't yellow like corn kernels so I'm not sure why they all think that they're some sort of amazing treat they have to grab at while they can, but I've long since learned that the chickens must never see my teeth if they're close to my face.
That definitely doesn't explain biting your hand, though, so I don't know on that. Chickens are just crazy sometimes.![]()
Totally!Haha, same here! With so many of them running around, I am constantly talking to them when I'm outside. It would be rude to greet one of them and not the rest, you know.![]()
