Man they sure do know how to get to ya heart don't they!?!
They are only 5 weeks old and are determined to ride on my shoulders to the brooder in garage back and forth to the big run with others for field trips!
I'm guessing as they get chunkier and full grown they won't be doing that cuz they won't be able to fly up - or am I wrong?

My Cochin boy flys pretty good! His frizzle wife not so much but that because she has knives for wings

My Cochins are not fliers. They can get to the roosts efficiently enough (there are steps part way, so that helps), but they cannot get enough lift under their wings to make their round birb bodies go very far otherwise. Many of mine are silkied, so that doesn't help, either, but even my smooth Cochins are definitely not built for the sky. 🤣

I think it depends a lot on the bird whether they decide to keep flying later on. My shoulder sitter Cochins all quit shoulder sitting when they were no longer able to haul their fat butts to my shoulders, though.

Coco is too precious...at just a wee 5 weeks old he is doing a little dance on top of my leg as he sits there waiting for luvins! Then climbs or flies to my shoulder and luvs to ride!
Chins is getting feathers still so slowly!
I sure hope she feathers in like Coco has...he's gorgeous!

My frizzle boy in my pf is too fat and lazy to jump on my arm. He does step up on my leg and sit on me when he gets the chance though. He also loves snuggles.

The bantam cochin babies are starting to grow in their wing feathers! Most of them look mille fleur colored so it will be cool to see how they feather out. One of the lighter ones is now named Pinecone.

We also got our big Murray McMurray unsexed bantam order yesterday since there was a bantam sale a while ago. We got 4 Buff Brahma bantams, 4 EE bantams, 4 Quail Antwerp Belgian D'anvers bantams, 4 Mottled Cochin bantams, 3 Mille Fleur D'uccles(only one has muffs though), 3 Red Pyle OEGBs(one of these guys is really mean and aggressive to the others), and one mystery chick that ended up being a muffless Porcelain D'uccle.

Most of the chicks are very mellow, especially the mottled BCs and the D'uccles and D'anvers.
