I have brewers yeast. Do I need to wait and give that to them when they are older? I thought you need to give it to them ALWAYS.

I give it to mine(or soon to be mine) because I use chick NON MED feed. Chick feed does not have enough niacin in it so I give them brewers yeast for added niacin. Ducks need more niacin then chickens. Some people just give there ducks regular niacin out of a capsule(they put the powder it in feed or water). Sorry to confuse you if I did.

PS. I give them Thomas labs brewers yeast. It has garlic in there to...great for health. I got it off Amazon if you want to buy it, or you could just go to a vitamin shop and they should brewers yeast there. I got mine for $16.00(16oz)

That's what I'm saying is that I don't supplement with anything but I use a feed for all poultry types so maybe it has right amount in it already? and they are happy little ducks.

One other question, we are building a nice duckhouse inside of our garage with a dog door for them to go in and out. I am wondering if I need to use a heater for them in the winter time since it can get down to 40 below with the wind. like I said they will have a house with pine shavings inside of a garage. do I need additional heat for adult ducks at those temps?

some people say light the house and some say don't. The reason people say no is because it can be a fire hazard. Others say yes cuz of there temperature were they live. Most adult ducks are very cold hardy so they should be fine. It really just comes down to what you want to do.

I used a fabric puppy playpen I bought on Amazon. I lined the bottom with beach towels then covered those with puppy pee pads. I used a food tray with a lip for food and water (to help contain spillage) and switched it all out once per day. I did not use any type of bedding because this was easier for me to keep clean, manage and keep the smell down!

ya I too want to stay away from the light... I was going to get a heater made for doghouses but if I can avoid that expense I want to. Just don't want to come home to frozen ducks!
