The Big Move

Mine are about 6 weeks and still in the garage. Still to cold here in Michigan to keep them outside. I have stopped useing the heat lamp for about two weeks now. He seems to get over heated when we come home and turn up the house heat, the garage is attached so I open the door to see and talk with them. I have been using VetRx a couple of times a week and it seems to help with the congestion.

Same thing is happening to my pekin/buffs. I thought it was because of eating pine shavings, but maybe not. I have a TSC gift card so I am going to go get so VetRx. I am hoping it is over heating rather than respiratory from eating pine shavings. I really need to use up mine pine shavings.

You sure their nostrils aren’t getting plugged from all the junk they stick their bills in? Then when they get in the tub they clear it out?

We are newbies to ducks but this is our current set up that is working great! They are in our garage with a lamp. They seem very happy/content!

Yes they take a bath every night. Removed the heat lamp all together and no more open mouth breathing!

We wanted to move to the garage but it was only 52 with the lamp so guess the house a little longer.... they are starting to grow feathers now so hopefully next week!

My Pekins are 2-3 weeks old and it’s 43 degrees outside. And they are loving it. The bigger ones are around 4 weeks I think.

My ducks are 5 weeks, moved them into their coop last week. They were way too big for anything. Their coop is protected, tons of shavings for fluff and warmth and 100w bulb for extra heat. Tons of water and food. The nights get down to the mid 30s and they are fine. Much happier.
