I wouldn't say you have to grow it, more you have to plant it. Comfrey grows itself.

Misconception.
Even though it rains a lot here in Florida. My soil is yellow sand. It does not retain water and the sun would kill my plants on any sunny day if i did not water them prior to and during the heat of the day.

It's Bocking.
It's a sterile Russian variety. I grow Bocking #4.
I don't know if it's any better for humans than the native variety?

This will be the 4th harvest of plants that were started as root cuttings this year.
Plant once, harvest 100 times.
Amazing.

Some of the plants in the back row were harvested for their roots.
I replaced them with the crown piece from the root and they're quickly growing back.

thank you, i must have read it wrong but i have no idea what i have, my mil planted it many years before i came around and she didn't teach me how to use it, i don't remember her ever using it and i would like to learn how. i do know it doesn't really spread and has little purple flowers

If your chickens can't get at the plants, try picking some leaves, tying them into a bunch and hanging it somewhere above the chicken's heads. That makes it easier for them to break off bite-sized pieces.

The previous owners of the property had goats and we have a plague of Comfrey on the property, just can't ever get rid of the stuff but the bees and butterflies love it...my chickens won't touch it. Spoiled brats I think is the case.
