Thanks for the photos! I'd been looking for photos of OEs from Privett's....thinking about getting some.
Mine isn’t particularly friendly, but not mean. She just is wary of people. She lays well though, and was the first one of that year’s chicks to lay. I believe she was right around 20 weeks. Nice large eggs, this year they’re sometimes extra large. The dark green egg in my avatar pic (bottom right) is one of hers from last year.

I just have four girls but here are their eggs. 🙂

Aww I love the variety! Almost got a Dorking this year, how is her personality?
Variety and friendliness were my main goals when choosing breeds! I succeeded with both. <3 Dora's friendliness depends on if she's laying or not. Before she was laying and this winter, she threw a fit if I needed to pick her up for some reason. In lay though she's a sweetie pie. She's not a lap chicken, but she follows me around the yard (they all do for that matter!). Dora is top of the small pecking order and she's quite the benevolent leader. She only metes out violence if she's directly challenged, and I've only seen that a handful of times. She does have quite the pair of spurs though!

I'll see what I can do later. Got some eggs from my Malay girls finally.
Question, I’d like 2 brown layers and 2 blue layers. pictures of the chickens look big but it states their only about 5 1/2 lbs. I want to have all the chicken end up being about the same size. Is this possible what would you suggest. I’m looking for new chicks now. Thank you

Do you have specific breeds in mind? Welsummer, Cuckoo Marans, Easter Egger, & Cream Legbar are all around that size and pretty friendly! But you could get a bigger breed like Orpingtons (8lbs) or Faverolles (7lb) and they are docile breeds. Mixing breeds of a different size is totally fine, especially if they are raised together!

Left to right-
OE, Prue (Marans mix) from MPC
Light Braham, Maribel from McMurray
Welsummer, Piper from MPC
WTB, Betty from McMurray
Blue orp, Phoebe from MPC

Prue and Maribel lay very large eggs, Betty (top producer, 6wk) and Piper are large, and Phoebe lays bullets, lol

Brown Leghorns, & Easter Eggers I believe would be your closest weight goal. But the Leghorn is a white egg layer not brown.

Even if you just got the lighter weight breeds, you'll still end up with a few heavier individuals.

Dominiques are beautiful brown egg layers and at 5 pounds at the same weight as blue egg layers.
