The Brooding of Allie, Casey and Latte

I love this thread. The babies are just gorgeous. That last one had me laughing I almost felt like Julie for a moment.

Thanks for sharing your babies with us.
Thanks!

Duckings grow up SOOO fast - much faster than a kitten or a puppy. My heart is heavy with the knowledge that without a tragedy, I probably won't get any more ducks due to space issues. So I live vicariously through others' 'lings (and call ducks, and Muscovies) that I can't get. (We all have a little Julie in us.) So I hope others in this situation can enjoy mine in the same way. Plus the people here are great! And since I made my own thread... I don't pollute other threads with tons of "here are my duckies" pics. You can enjoy them self-choice just like my ducks get their oyster shell...

Hey, Tony, would you please take a photo of the weighing process or just a pic of the scale(s) you use for little & adult birb ducks? Pretty please?

Baby birbs are food Small Scale I bought this scale because the food scale I had used a removable dish on top and the ducklings would rock it around which would scare them which would make the squirm more. This scale has a nice flat surface and is very low profile so the lings barely know they are being weighed. I just need to erect a fence with my hands for a second or two and I get a stable weight.

Grown birds are babies. Someone already did a great review of the scale I use for the adults: Big Scale

The process is just like taking pictures... Just keep trying until the <bleep> bird stays still long enough.

And when my cute adorable babies turn into geeky teenage train wrecks, you and VP will be providing the cute and adorable...

@ Debs Flock: Earthworms above Tony's head? Hmm, I may just have to try that :) We will figure something out to get more adorable pics of the 3 'lings, I'm sure. Right now all it takes is something shiny and they all have to go and investigate.

Thank you, Patti :) They are soooo cute! Can't keep my hands off of them ... Make me fall in love with duckies all over again. And I'm also not complaining about the bonus cuddling. Right now I find myself coming home at lunch just so I can spend 20 minutes with the lil girls.

In an act of great silliness, we just figured out that I have been spelling our new Khaki Campbell's name "Casie" and Yvonne has been spelling it "Casey". So naturally her name is going to be "Casey"

At least we got if figured out before she got here. I would hate to have a duckling have to worry about how she should spell her name.

Silly hubby - I know the little girl isn't going to care, but I think that it's sweet that you changed the spelling, just the same. Thank you.

Congrats to the new Mommy and Daddy Ling-lings!!! Awfully cute!! How can you both stand all that cuteness in one package?? We've been debating for 6 months what we'd do with the eggs that are now coming at a fast and furious pace!! Can't wait to see how they all transform over the next few weeks / months!! And great job on the brooder!! If you've got a patent on it, you'll soon be getting royalties from at least us.

Cheers! And here's to little twills, chirps, wobles and beginner quacks!!!

Troy & Tina
Thank you very much! Yes, couldn't agree more. It's tough but I am willing to subject myself to this seeing as it only lasts a few weeks *pout*. Yes, the brooder, although a bit too big for the babies, is awesome. Once they become teenagers, it will be just perfect. :)
Yes, right now the sleepy chirps are my favorites.

The eyes of these sweet little tater tots are so cute.

Why o' why are ducklings the cutest things in the world?

Yes - especially when they are ready to fall asleep *sigh*
They just are; we have to accept that fact. I was a crazy cat person pre 'lings but I am a converted woman now. Cats are okay to pet and hold now but having a duckling cuddle in my hand, nestle in my hair ... nothing cuter.
