So adorable, but still watch closely it only takes a minute for something to happen and drakes can be unpredictable.
Let the the dads back in with the girls today, since the ducklings are doing their own thing (for the most part) and bigger. All went very well, no problems at all. Yay!
They are probably a bit to young, usually around 4-5 weeks girls begin to quack real loud that will give them away. I bet they are growing fast.
I'm not sure if my duck eggs will hatch because the drake was too young and now he's old enough the duck is broody and the drake can't find her!
Aww that's so sweet. They learn by example mine are the same way, they know the green coffee can means meal worms and gather around the building waiting to see if I'm going to come out with it. They are so much fun. Enjoy them and don't forget pics.
They may do okay with the big pool as long as they have a way out, getting tired out is when things can go wrong. and make sure what ever you decide to use to help them get out they can't get caught under especially if one of the adults was standing on top of it. Some use bricks or blocks at the edge for them to climb onto and out, outside same way. I had a small cat litter tray set up for mom and 4 ducklings with a short ramp for inside and never thought this could happen one got caught under neathe and drowned, all I can think of is mom was standing on top and it penned the duckling under where it couldn't get it's head above water, broke my heart. it's amazing how high these lil things can jump. lol I'm sure they can swim well so maybe try filling the small one with ramp and see how they do with that for a few days before moving to bigger and better. again making sure they will be safe.
