Well one thing about this thread , the way it started was about bullying.

We have a young boy's suicide........what was the reason behind it......i'm not sure it was the bulling. Was it the fact he couldn't accept the fact he was gay......for sure people posting hate and gays all need to dye and all go to hell, didn't help....could be lot of reason this boy took his life, but he just was not mental able to handle. Things he was dealing with,

I would agree on a temporary basis. Remember the Valium debacle and now it is Oxycotton. Same problem different drug.

medicines can help. some imbalances are so bad they need medication.

yep I just watched another family go through this. A friends 21 year old brother stabbed himself a week ago Saturday. There was a recent break up with a girl, detail aren't completely out (not that they need to be). I can assure you the family is in much more pain than they guy who killed himself was. So I totally agree with you chickened.

Regardless the reason for suicides there is one common denominator, they feel life is not worth living and that is very sad at any age for any reason. My MIL had 2 brothers blow thier brains out about 15 years apart one had drug issues and the other was going blind from diabetes, My MIL listened to the 911 suicide call on the last one and it was very dark.

agreed. some people don't realize that when one commits suicide they are often in the point of pain and despair where they are inescapable of thinking clearly.

Abuse, bullying, mental illness, or general hopelessness and many other factors can be the cause of suicide. Also remember the kids who killed themselves are still kids. children already have a limited sense of their world and are often not mature enough to handle adult stresses, making it easier for them to think suicide is their only option. it is horrible and painful and the suicidal need to be treated and helped not condemned.

PBJ: Would you say this behavior is consistent with asperghers by chance?

Sorry - was at work and this thread has really grown! But yet it seems to remain civil

I don't see him as on the autism spectrum anywhere. But I'm not an expert even though I have dealt with plenty of autistic children through my job. More like raging ADHD and sometimes we think there is a split personality there. He likes to dress like a girl and takes on an entire new identity when he does. All his mannerism change completely. It isn't like typical play where they are exploring other gender roles. We are wondering if his obsession with this other girl is because he wants to be like her. He is definitely unlike any other child I have dealt with in working with preschoolers for 12 years now, plus having an ADD child of my own and a child with Sensory Integration Disorder.

No. In fact, religious prejudice against gay people is the foundation of this case of bullying. Where else would the bullies get the idea that Jamey was going to hell for being different?
