The Bunny Chat Thread - For Bunny Owners

Hey bunny people! :)

I had a question to ask around, I'm not concerned or worried, I thought I'd just see if anyone else has experienced the same thing.
So my 11yo (I'm guessing around that age, he was found not adopted or bought) lionhead has had irritated eyes before, although lately they've been flaring up more than normal. They'll get red around the edges and watery, although typically if I were to run my finger over his eye gently I wouldn't actually feel the tears, but lately I have been able to because they've gotten a little worse. The other day his eye was really watery, but it cleared up eventually by the end of the day.

I'm pretty positive its the heat, and possibly any dust that might get into his eyes. (Like I've said, he's gotten irritated eyes before, although not this bad in a while) We don't have a dusty backyard, but it could be a little gets blown up, even though he's off the ground. It could be dust from the hay too, which is more plausible. But I think it's the heat because in the mornings (and kinda in the evenings) his eyes go back to normal, or there's very limited red around his eye and they aren't overly watery. During the middle of the days is when it's at its worst. I live in FL so it gets really hot here, been in the 90s and feels-likes 100s. Although the slightly weird thing is, is it really is only his left eye that does this. His right, not so much if at all.

Does anyone else have any speculations/agreements or similar situations that you are/have been in?
His eyes have gotten a lot cloudier over the last few years, although his vision is still great. I swear I thought he had a delayed reaction when I waved my hand and moved a paper towel tube on his left side this morning, but it's really hard to tell because he just gets so angry with me that he overreacts and runs off lol.

Just thought I would ask around to see if my theory is correct. I dunno if there's much I can do for him, unless there actually is something I can put on it or do. Like I said, I'm not terribly concerned really because I've seen him get irritated eyes before, and he's as healthy as a horse with no other problems right now.

I have never had that problem, but I have only had rabbits for a few weeks now. I will boost this thread and see if anyone else sees it.

Sounds like he could have allergies.

Have you brought the bunny to the vet? They could probably recommend some type of allergy medication that will help.
