The chickens of the Sunshine Motel!

Am super jealous of your flock. Badly want a rooster. have to save up for a few hundred dollar fence and the pure bred flock [plus a few roos] first...
PS: Already have a super layer flock. But one can never have to many chickens...:D
Or you could just buy a colorful roo and turn him loose!

Some Sunshine Motel features:
Lovely, heavy door on a pulley system!

4" vents on the front and the back. These can be blocked in an emergency.

The clear span on 3 sides. This is probably my favourite feature because it means I can see my chickens roosting! While there was a design mistake--I meant for it to be on removable frames, with wire on the inside-- the ventilation keeps it ok in the summer. I keep their water outside for now, and I am planning to mount thermometers both in and outside of the coop to get a better idea of the temperature difference. In the winter, with the insulated door instead of the screen one, it will be good and cozy!

The floor (and walls!) Rat proof!
Plywood! A layer of sheet metal! Blue board! More wood! And in the case of the floor, heavy-duty plastic stuff. I don't actually remember what to call it, but it is what we line our milking parlor with. It is a total snap to clean-- this is my before picture and of course I forgot to take the after.

And of course, more happy chickens!

Took a few fun pictures of my crew!
Rory, with dramatic clouds. He is really turning out handsome!

Clara showing off her spectacularly blue tail. I tried to get some pictures of her wings, but she was too busy chasing bugs. Some lovely copper and gold tones starting to come through!

River Song. She was being unusually friendly tonight!
20180717_200503.jpg

Bill Potts. She is really maturing into a lovely little hen.

A very L O U D truck went by, and Nardole the Brave sounded the alarm and went on the attack! The girls (+ Rory) all raced to hide in my overgrown raised beds. Good chickens!

One, two, three, how many chickies do you see?

I love(d) the pictures, Dona Worry! :love The place you live is GORGEOUS and so are your lovely chickens! :love It was fun looking at the pictures and reading what you wrote. :D Thanks for sharing it! Your chickens look SO happy. I like watching mine happily free-range, but I must keep them confined for a while to ensure the rest of my new or soon-to-be layers know to lay in their doghouse. -sighs- :p
Do you have cows? Or are they a neighbor's? :wee This might be the most fun post I've read today on here since a little while. Like adding whipped topping with a cherry on top on my ice cream. :D

Aww, thank you! I'm glad they brighten up your day!

So Romana (black) and Sarah Jane Smith (buff) got a SERIOUS CASE OF THE ZOOMIES!

I did not get a video or photo, which is an unspeakable tragedy. :barnie

I assume they were chasing a bug (or Bug? :hmm) invisible from the road, but they had their wings out, heads low, and were ZOOMING around in circles at top speed!

Here they are a few minutes later, feigning innocence.

Nardole in the back shouting at a stray piece of plastic floating by lol. It wasn't a crow, I really don't have a word for whatever noise he was making:idunno.
