I'm getting my first mail order chicks tomorrow. Ten each of Orloffs, Welsummers, and Dark RIR. Have my brooder almost ready, just need to add the finishing touches. I bought some almost week old Cornish X's and have raised those, but these are my first layers. I know this whole site is full of instructions, tips and experiences. Tell me some of the key things I do be prepared for with these chicks.
Thanks

Layers are no different from any other chick. I would suggest at least 2 weeks medicated feed and introduction of Dirt clumps to there diet. At Aprox, 18-22 weeks I would switch over to a layer feed and offer oyster shells in a bowl so thay can get what they need for good egg development.
