The chirping is going to drive me to violence....

welcome!
I also put in ceramic ducks the lonely chick really liked those- these guys were just waiting for their friends to hatch.

There was something else wrong. Neither feather duster or stuffed animal worked, and it eventually died yesterday. I kept the pasty butt cleared most of the time. Personally, I think it had brain damage, because it wasn't just the chirping. Walking backward and shaking it's head all the time hinted at something else going on. Unfortunately, we'll never know.
You did the best you could under the circumstances. Agree, something else could have happened along the way to impact it with the neuro issues. We continue on, offering and taking little nuggets of suggestions and advice in our efforts to take care of our flock and each other. So many good ideas on BYC!

Thanks!

I adopted a little black star yesterday. my daughter chose it because it looked lonely sitting in the corner cheeping and sad. I know you should adopt a healthy looking one but sometimes you can turn these things around but it was already 3 days old when I adopted it and I doubt it ate anything. as soon as I brought it home I gave it protein and yolk and stuff dipping her bill and she drank, and heating pads, but I still think it was too late. I have saved so many chicks this way, but atleast she died knowing someone cared. good news is 5 other adopted chicks are doing well, and all six of my eggs are showing life and 5 are in air cells, but have not pipped.

she is the middle chick. what is sad is she is a black star, the chick with the white head is a bantam and it was bigger and heavier.
