The first night on the new roost bar went well! This is what happened:
When I went into the coop at sundown Friday night this is what I saw.
Penny: snuggled comfortably at the far end of the roost bar.
Henny: sitting in the box under the roost.
Punkin: kinda standing around and looking up at the roost.

I waited around to see what happened. Punkin jumped onto the roost, but then she fell off. After a moment’s consideration, she walked over to one of the nest boxes and laid down there. I thought to myself “no, this won’t do”, so I went to put Punkin and Henny up on the roost. I picked up Punkin and Henny and put them on the bar. No problems. But THEN Punkin knocked Penny off the roost! She climbed up and got back on though.
About an hour later I went to check on them and Henny was once more in the box under the bar (Apparently she had gotten knocked off). I put her back up and she stayed there for the rest of the night, as did the other two.
Last night they went up on the roost all by themselves and slept well there!
