Since 2007? Maybe you could add an update on what's working, what didn't and what changed. Most of the better articles I've seen have updates like that and they're really helpful.

That would be a short article update. What's not working is the hubs and me. Our health, especially my husband's, necessitated a huge change. The coops themselves worked fine, but we needed to consolidate into one barn to make our life easier. The coop in the article doesn't even exist now.

Is there any way to note on the articles whether the OP is still an active BYC member or not?

Not directly, but you can see the last time the article was edited, and then if you click the user's profile you can often see the last time they were actively posting, etc.

It's interesting and a little quaint to read how much materials cost 10 years ago.

Chicken coops have been an incredibly important part of BYC from our beginning in 1999. We encourage all our members to document, photograph, and then submit their coop-building experiences.

In an effort to further improve our coop database, we need YOUR HELP with reviewing chicken coops!!

Details: Our goal is to have EVERY coop page have at least 3 reviews!

Our system has "ratings" (just the star rating) and "reviews" (the rating + a text comment), and you can do either one, but we prefer you provide a "review" if you can.

We want your HONEST feedback on the coop pages. If you have some constructive feedback, but don't want to leave your name, you can check the anonymous box and leave a review anonymously.

Below is a customize link to a list of all the coop pages that need reviews. This list only shows coop pages that you have NOT reviewed. Please start at the top and work your way down:

Regarding rating criteria, try not to rate a coop page only on the way the coop looks. A 5-Star coop page is one that is incredibly detailed and chock-full of stuff that will help others build their perfectly fitting coop, and usually has a great combo of:

• A bunch of pics during and after construction
• A nice write-up of what the person did, what they liked, what they would have done differently, tips, tricks, etc.
• Plans of the coop are a big bonus!

I did another 2 from the list. But the articles were both from 2012 and the carpenters aren’t active anymore on this forum.

So I asked myself. What’s the point?

Isn’t it nice to eliminate some of the old coops/articles with a low rating from too few members? That helps to clean up the list. And that way the work is easier to finish.

I do not think the articles will be deleted. The low ratings put them further down in the search list.
