(Reuters) - A Wisconsin woman bit off half her husband's tongue during a kiss and has been arrested, authorities said on Tuesday.

The bitten piece of the husband's tongue was recovered, and he was taken to a hospital following the incident late on Monday, Sheboygan, Wisconsin police said in a statement.

The woman, 57, told emergency workers she had "bit her husband's tongue off," police said in a statement. She had blood on her clothing, they said.

The 79-year-old victim said his wife bit his tongue while he was kissing her, police said. The woman was singing Christmas carols and blowing a New Year's horn when police arrested her on charges of felony mayhem. Formal charges are pending by the District Attorney's Office.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where doctors were trying to reattach his tongue, police said. About half his tongue was bit off.

The victim said his wife had been acting strangely in recent days, said the police in Sheboygan, roughly 50 miles north of Milwaukee.

I'm not sure. I have not heard much about it. No news isn't always good news, though...

I live here in the epicenter of the spill. The answer would be yes and no. New oil hasn't been coming in since last month, but across from our house, on the rocks lining the bayside, there is still oil all over the rocks, and in between. There's a small island (Elmer's Island) next to the one we live on, that's guarded 24/7 on it's vehicle entrance by police and an emergency response team. High-up's have said that huge tarball sheets are still coming in daily and oil has been found 3-4 feet under the surface of the beach. There are "sandscrubber" stations that have been set up in a couple of places on this island, but the VOC's coming from the operation are making alot of people who live around here pretty sick. So, the images of brown pelicans dripping in oil that you've seen on the news hasn't happened in a while, but there's still soooo much left to clean up.
