Kasten stood facing the bitter wind, it whipped his cloak and burned his eyes. In the caves there had never really been weather, steam bursts, drafts, a vague idea of rain, and ice; but nothing like this. The sun was still the enemy, although now they could look where its rays burned the grasses and landscape, without shading their eyes. It would not be long, not long at all. They would conquer this land.

Nix sat beside him, legs crossed and fiddling with something in his hands.

Hailey, Ainsley and Jareth swung from tree to tree, high in the air. They could tell from the temperature of the air that it was getting colder as they neared the outskirts of their temperary border. Finally, Jareth stopped "Its freezing here!" He complained.

"Shh" Hailey growled "There could be other creatures here that we haven't met yet"

Jareth studied his feet and muttered "Sorry Hailey"

Ainsley coughed to get their attention and motioned through the trees to the entrance of a cave, where the faint outline of a person could be seen inside.

Nix let the stones fall from his hands, watching them tumble several feet down the ridge. Kasten glanced at him and turned, "the others are waiting, we should return with what we have."
Nix nodded obediently and stood, brushing the dirt from his pants.
