Phoenix, deciding she might aswell make herself useful and get something to eat, launched herself from the branch. She dropped down slightly before her wings caught the air and she gain altitude quickly. Once she was about 200 feet above the tops of the trees and circled lazily, watching the ground for signs of movement. A brown flicker around the lake caught her attention, a rather large elk was moving from the shelter of the trees to drink in the cool lake water.
Pausing for a moment take the wind speed and direction into account, she dove, merely a firey blur through the sky as she decended on the elk. At the last second she threw back her chest and brought her talons forward, opening her wings fully to slow down while driving her talons into the animal's back. The impact caused its legs to buckle and she burried her dagger in its neck before it even had a chance to struggle.
